Why Sleep and Web Get Saving Throws When I DM...

...because you better damn well believe that I run adversary NPC Magic-Users like a goddamn shark. And if they had access to an "I Win" button they would use it.

Magic goes both ways, but even I'm not that cold-blooded.

Besides, my players love throwing sleep spells at opponents with too high a HD for sleep to affect or that otherwise are immune; why not preserve the confusion by giving the monsters a saving throw?

Blair's GM Merit Badges

Stuart at Strange Magic created a nice set of icons that DMs can use to quantify and communicate their refereeing style; although I was dubious about "patting myself on the back" I took a gander and hey! some of these badges fit me to a T. So here's my estimation of which badges describe my DMing style:

Players characters Death is a likely event in my games
I roll Dice in the open and don't fudge the results in my games
 My games include Disturbing content
My games are Gonzo and can include a lot of strangeness
My games rely on a lot of Improvisation rather than pre scripted content
The GM is In Charge in my games and "rule-zero" is in effect
My games focuses on Exploration & Mystery
There will be Player vs Player combat allowed in my games
Players in my game should be prepared to Run when the odds are against them

Tactics are an important part of my games
I frequently Tinker with the rules of the game

4 Mutant Hyaenodons...

Viewable on Referees' Resources, are the DM-eyes-only details of half of the hexes of the Iridium Plateau Hexmap. A couple of short excerpts:
XXXX: The hunting grounds of 4 Mutant Hyaenodons (HP:27, 15, 25, 24) with writhing worms-like tentacles (2 additional attacks for 1-4 damage) growing out of their backs.

XXXX: This foul spire is rotten throughout it's mass with massive slimy tunnels bored by uncounted legions of blotchy, albino Purple Worms that thrive on the unique sentient ores and crystals that permeate this mountain. These living minerals are an important component for constructing certain positronic thinking-engines.
