"HYPERLOG VG15-663xyk/Imperial Mangor Scout Expedition - Hyades:
Achieved orbit around habitable class world, monitors indicated unusual BIO and PSI readings. Was forced to evacuate after vessel was swarmed by unknown winged bioforms. Escape pod landed in phosphorescent barrens, next attempting contact with jale hued humanoid natives"
Imagine combining Humanspace Empires, Terminal Space, X-Plorers or Stars Without Numbers with the Carcosa setting; Raygun Holocaust!

I want! Any of above games, but with my Mi-go character class! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! That idea is so awesome, I blow my load, and these were my good paints! I would love to play a game like that!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Planet Algol already a sum of all those things?
ReplyDeleteI have also fantasized about combining Carcosa and Terminal Space.
ReplyDeleteYou too?! So let's do it! :D
ReplyDeleteSounds great! Nice idea. :D
ReplyDelete"Eldritch Space"
ReplyDeleteIsn't Planet Algol already a sum of all those things?
ReplyDeleteI thought that too. :)
@ Greg & Stuart: For me the difference is that Algol is a Dying Earth/Urth world of "Baroque Decrepitude" surrounded by howling wilderness whereas Carcosa is Hell. Also PCs in my Algol games aren't able to buy ray guns and space armor before play.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this is the result of me wondering "What sandbox resources are available that would be good for playing Humanspace Empires?"
ReplyDeleteInter-planar horror (ala M.A.R. Barker rather than Lovecraft though) will be a very important part of HE. There's the universe devouring Goddess of the Pale Bone, her shape-changing servitors, the demonic entities from the Book of Ebon Bindings and the thinning of the walls of reality in FTL travel.
ReplyDeleteAlso Book 3 of Humanspace Empires will include a series of vignettes for sandbox world settings that might make the game a bit more "sword and planet" and "weird space opera" than it probably appears at this stage. I've been working on these and will post previews soon.
